gcc-4.1.1

My configure switches are:

--enable-ensure-mlock --with-default-tmpdir=/dev/shm --enable-dynsimd

You should have "-m3dnow -msse" in your CFLAGS... I'd recommend
something like "-march=pentium3 -mtune=pentium4 -O3 -ffast-math -msse
-m3dnow -mprefetch-loop-arrays".

> I'm on a P4.

Compile time architecture doesn't matter, all variants are always
compiled and then "dynamically" selected at runtime depending on CPU
capabilities. That's why it's "dynsimd".

Shouldn't the JACK build process take care of setting the required
CFLAGS?

Thank you. I used "-march=pentium3 -mtune=pentium4 -O3 -ffast-math
-msse -m3dnow" and it worked fine;). Never had to do this before,
though.

When I had the "-mprefetch-loop-arrays" added to CFLAGS, I got:

checking for C compiler default output file name...
configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables
See `config.log' for more details.

Here's my config.log:

This file contains any messages produced by compilers while
running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.

It was created by configure, which was
generated by GNU Autoconf 2.61.  Invocation command line was

  $ ./configure --enable-ensure-mlock --with-default-tmpdir=/dev/shm --enable-dynsimd

IMO, it's better not try to override something specified in CFLAGS,
otherwise it would break up lot of package building systems. And it
would also be rather hard to keep up with different compilers, etc.

I would leave it up to competence of person enabling --enable-dynsimd on
configure to find out what to do... This could also be documented
somewhere, but we don't have any up-to-date build instructions anyway
where to include it.

If someone knows autotools well enough to test for availability of
different compiler flags and add those to the CFLAGS, I'd be happy to
support that improvement though... ;)
