freebob and jack under Musix (debian/stable), unknown driver 'freebob'

Marcos Guglielmetti
Does someone knows how to solve it? Could the jackd package from debian/etch
be just in a bad situation? I mean: is this problem related to the debian
package or not?

http://foros.musix.es/viewtopic.php?t=26

"These is a bug in both 0.99 and 1.0rc1 if one wants to use firewire sound
cards (Terratec Phase 88 FW is mine but misbehaviour is general).
libfreebob0 is installed by default but libjack0.100.0-0 misses
jack_frebbob.so.
So if you try to start jackd with freebob in this way:

 $jackd -vd freebob
you will get this error message:

 $jackd: unknown driver 'freebob'

No way to make my card worked from live CD or default installation. One has
to install to hd Musix, resolvie dependencies compiling sources, etc. etc."

apt-cache policy jackd

I am pretty sure that version of JACK is either too old or build
without Freebob support.  You probably need to provide a custom JACK
package.  Try rebuilding the .deb and make sure --enable-freebob is
used.

0.100.0 is too old.

64studio has a 0.103.0 jack .deb package that works fine. Plenty of
other reasons to upgrade anyway :).

Hi,

The new builded version does not starts with freebob:

jackd -vd freebob
getting driver descriptor from /usr/lib/libjack0.100.0-0/jack_dummy.so
getting driver descriptor from /usr/lib/libjack0.100.0-0/jack_oss.so
getting driver descriptor from /usr/lib/libjack0.100.0-0/jack_alsa.so
jackd: unknown driver 'freebob'

 jack-audio-connection-kit 0.101.1 :

| Build with ALSA support............................... : true
| Build with OSS support................................ : true
| Build with CoreAudio support.......................... : false
| Build with PortAudio support.......................... : true
| Build with FreeBob support............................ : true
|
| Default driver backend................................ : "alsa"
| Shared memory interface............................... : "System V"

Does someone knows why?

# /etc/apt/sources.list Musix GNU+Linux
deb ftp://musix.ourproject.org/pub/musix/deb/ ./

I don't think you are starting the right version, this looks like you
have multiple versions installed (e.g. in /usr/local/).

tips:
  jackd --version

  which jackd

  find / -name 'jackd'
